The Dramatic AIDS Education Project (DAEP) is based on stories of actual HIV+ teenagers in the Kansas City area.

More than 700 youth HIV infections were reported in Kansas City last year." --Talking About AIDS so America Listens, May, 2000.

A free touring presentation for 8th grade and high schools, available year round.

Awarded the Ribbon of Hope Community Service award, this unique collaboration utilizes medical students from the University of Kansas and the University of Missouri and Coterie professional actors as trained AIDS peer educators. Using dramatic monologues, slides, and music, a medical student and a Coterie actor portray HIV-infected teenagers to educate teens about the transmission and prevention of AIDS. The Dramatic AIDS Education Project served over 100,000 students since 1993.

Project Requirements:

  • A presentation will require a minimum of 45 minutes.

  • The maximum amount of time appropriate is one hour.

  • We can do multiple presentations on the same day.  Back-to-back presentations (with adequate time for classes to pass) are preferred over long breaks between groups.
